Illinois nightclub security involved in shooting that left man dead
HARVEY, Ill. July 12 2019— Police are investigating a shooting that killed a man outside a bar in Harvey.
The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Monday outside the “Let’s Play Sports Bar” on Dixie Highway. The bar is just down the street from the Harvey police station.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office identifies the victim as Larry Matthews, 27.
Police said there were multiple shooters and some shots were fired by club security. The Harvey Police Chief is not saying if any suspects have been identified.
Residents who live across the street tell WGN that fights have broken out in the past, but they do not recall seeing anything like this near the business before.
Illinois State police crime scene technicians spent more than six hours collecting evidence at the scene.
