Police say the guard’s gun went off accidentally; eye-witnesses have contradicted the claim
One person was injured after a security guard’s gun went off inside a bank in New Delhi. The guard has been arrested by the police while the injured man — identified as Rajendra Singh — is being treated at a hospital.
The incident took place at a branch of Vijaya Bank in New Delhi’s Defence Colony and the guard has been identified as Rudra Pal Singh, a retired army soldier.
The police say that Rudra Pal Singh’s gun went off accidentally but eyewitnesses have contradicted the police’s version.
Some of the people present inside the Vijaya Bank branch said that Rudra Pal Singh had gotten into an argument with some of the bank staff and that he fired his gun during this fight.
