Intoxicated man assaults security staff, hospital workers at MetroWest Medical Center
FRAMINGHAM MA Oct 25 2018 – A Wayland man being treated at MetroWest Medical Center was drunk when he assaulted three staff members who were treating him, authorities said.
Framingham Police did not arrest Andrew Ohalloran, 50, after the July 25 incident, instead obtaining a summons for him to appear in Framingham District Court on Tuesday.
On July 25, around 8 p.m., police went to the hospital for a report of an out of control patient. When they arrived, they found several people restraining a screaming Ohalloran, according to a police report filed in court on Tuesday. The report did not say why Ohalloran was in the hospital.
“He was being physically assaultive to staff members,” police wrote in the report.
According to the report, Ohalloran struck one woman in the arm and then punched a doctor three times in his chest and stomach. Ohalloran then kicked a security guard in his groin, police wrote in the report.
All three told police they wanted Ohalloran charged for the assaults.
Police took Ohalloran into protective custody that night rather than criminally charging him.
However, they got a summons that charged Ohalloran, of 7 Melville Place, with three counts of assault and battery.
At Ohalloran’s Framingham District Court arraignment, Judge Martine Carroll released him without bail, but ordered him to stay away from the victim and to stay away from MetroWest Medical Center except for emergency medical purposes.
Ohalloran is due back in court on Dec. 18 for a pretrial conference.
