Intoxicated patient punched Santa Fe hospital security officer
Santa Fe NM March 1 2018 A 65-year-old hospital patient is accused of punching a security guard after the man was admitted to St. Vincent Regional Medical Center on Friday with a high level of intoxication, a police report says.
Arthur Isaacson of Santa Fe was charged with assault upon a health care worker on Feb. 23 at the hospital’s emergency room, according to the report.
A nurse was checking Isaacson’s vital signs when he awoke and became extremely irate, according to the report, which added he was so boisterous that the security guard heard the yelling from down the hall.
As the guard, Reyes Narajano, entered the room, Isaacson stood up in his bed and pushed Narajano, the document says, and when the guard tried to hold the patient down Isaacson punched him in his left jaw.
Narajano continued to try to gain control of Isaacson after the blow but the patient started trying to spit at and bite the security guard, police said. Other guards arrived to help Narajano and after a struggle, they managed to handcuff Isaacson to the bed, the report said.
Isaacson was booked at the Santa Fe County jail Friday night. He was charged in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court and released Sunday evening.
