Armed security officer intervenes during attempted sexual assault of mail carrier
Milwaukee WI Jan 29 2018 A Milwaukee man has been charged in an attempted sexual assault of a mail carrier Wednesday that was thwarted by an armed security officer who put herself between the victim and her alleged assailant.
Lyndon Dale Jackson, 28, was charged Friday with a single felony count of attempted sexual assault in the incident, which took place around 10:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of W. Wells St.
He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
According to the criminal complaint, the 53-year-old mail carrier had just left a locked building when Jackson approached her, trying to grab her and repeatedly telling her he intended to rape her.
The mail carrier was trying to fight him off when the security officer intervened, pulling her weapon and firing at the ground in front of him.
Jackson was moving toward the security officer when officers arrived, according to the complaint.
It said Jackson refused officers’ orders to stop and show his hands, and that officers had to use force to take him into custody.
Jackson has several prior convictions for criminal damage to property and burglary.
