Kalamazoo Security Officer Murdered During Disturbance at a Business
KALAMAZOO, MI April 14 2025— Investigators are seeking two men for information related to the death of Montine Wiley, a 27-year-old security guard shot at an event Saturday, April 12, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety stated in a report.
Officers initially responded to reports of a large crowd gathered outside of a business on the 400 block of E. North at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
While officers were on scene speaking with staff, a gunshot was heard and officers located Mr. Wiley who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest at the front entrance of a parking lot.
Wiley, who was a security guard there, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:39 p.m.
On its social media channels, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety provided descriptions of two men detectives are seeking for questioning. Those descriptions are as follows:
A “white male, approximately 18–25 years old, last seen wearing a red hoodie, black backpack, and a black, white, and red Gravity Visions beanie.”
A “white male, approximately 18–25 years old, last seen wearing a blue hoodie and jeans.”
