Kansas security officer shot
Wichita KS Nov 24 2017
Two men were arrested Wednesday night after shooting at a car occupied by a man and a teen. One of their bullets hit a security guard who was sitting nearby in his vehicle, Wichita police said.
The shooting happened in the 2000 block of South Oliver at 8:15 p.m.
The 47-year-old security guard told police he was sitting in his vehicle when he heard several shots in the area of 4600 East Mt. Vernon. He got out of his vehicle and was shot in the wrist, Officer Charley Davidson said.
Officers stopped a white Hyundai Elantra that was leaving the area. They arrested two men – one after a foot pursuit, Davidson said.
Booking reports from the Sedgwick County Jail identify those men as Keandre Irby, 21, and Okemeus Ward, 22.
Davidson said a fight happened between the two men and the two in the car, ages 23 and 14. Shots were fired toward the car, a maroon Hyundai Sonata, Davidson said.
Irby and Ward were both arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ward was also cited on suspicion of obstruction and reckless driving.
