Kansas security officer shot woman who pointed gun
SEDGWICK COUNTY KS Sept 12 2021 —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting involving a QuikTrip security guard that injured a 23-year-old woman early Friday.
Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police were dispatched to a shooting at the QuikTrip in the 700 block of N Broadway, involving a security guard employed by the business, according to Officer Trevor Macy.
First responders located a 23-year-old woman with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that the armed security guard attempted to remove the woman from the business when she drew a weapon and pointed it at security guards several times, according to Macy.
The security guard gave multiple commands to get the woman to drop the weapon, but she refused, and the security guard fired her gun, striking the woman.
EMS transported the woman to an area hospital for treatment and she will be booked into jail upon release.
Police determined her weapon was a pellet gun.
