Kansas Supreme Court rejects appeal of man who killed security officer
WICHITA, Kan. The Kansas Supreme Court rejected an appeal from a man convicted of killing a security guard outside of a Wichita QuikTrip in 2021.
Laroy West was convicted of first-degree murder in 2023. In May 2021, he shot William Robinson during a fight outside of the QuikTrip at Murdock and Broadway after Robinson asked West to leave the store.
Robinson was initially hospitalized in critical condition; he died two days later.
The decision to uphold West’s conviction was unanimous. The court rejected West’s defense team’s assertion that the jury was given improper and confusing instructions.
