Knoxville Security Officer Saves Person Who Overdosed

A security officer on duty at a homeless shelter was notified of an unconscious person and responded to assist.
Officer Lauren Van Lew responded to the man down call at the Knox Area Rescue Misison 418 N Boadway St and assessed the condition of the person.
Using her training, she recognized that the person was suffering from an overdose and was able to administer several doses of Naloxone (Narcan).
EMS was also called to the scene to assist the officer.
The person was revived because of the quick actions of officer Van Lew and the patient was transported to a local hospital.
