Kohl’s Stoughton store security cracks down on shoplifting
STOUGHTON MA November 17 2018— Four people were arrested last week for stealing from the Kohl’s on Technology Center Drive, a department store that turns over a steady stream of shoplifters to police.
“Their loss prevention there is phenomenal,” Lt. John Bonney told The Enterprise, referring to the franchise’s staff that handles surveillance and security.
Bonney assisted in one of last week’s arrests, which saw a boyfriend and girlfriend charged with multiple counts of larceny and shoplifting after encountering police last Friday.
Police say the couple stole around $100 of property from Kohl’s and nearly $300 of property from a nearby Target over the course of two days.
Michael Citrone, 35, of Stoughton was also charged with possession of a class E substance — “pills,” according to Bonney — receiving a lost credit card and giving a false name. Carol Wirtz, 29, of Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood, was found in possession of methamphetamine, according to police.
The next day, Nov. 1, Stoughton police apprehended a different pair of alleged shoplifters.
Jessica O’Donnell, 32, of Taunton, was arrested alongside Ashely Quinlan, 30, of Brockton. Each was charged with a single count of shoplifting. The pair had allegedly stolen $202 worth of property from Kohl’s.
Bonney said it’s common to see an uptick in shoplifting and larceny arrests in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
In an incident unrelated to shoplifting, a Taunton man was arrested behind Kohl’s on Nov. 1 for driving without insurance and possession of a class C drug. The man also had an outstanding warrant from another police department for his arrest.
