KY police charge crew with returning broken TV’s at Walmart
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. April 22 2019— The Boyd County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday uncovered a six-person theft ring that was fraudulently returning broken televisions to area Wal-Mart stores in exchange for cash.
According to a report by Sgt. J. Delaney, deputies responded to the Cannonsburg, Kentucky, Wal-Mart on Thursday for a report of fraudulent returns of televisions to the store.
Officers realized that six people had been working together to make multiple fraudulent returns of televisions at the Wal-Mart stores in South Point, Ohio; Ashland and Cannonsburg, Kentucky.
The six are accused of returning older, non-working TVs in new TV boxes in an attempt to deceive store workers and receive cash for the broken TVs.
Deputies seized a trailer filled with broken TVs the suspects were going to use in the retail crime spree, according to the report.
