L.A. security guard charged with murder after shooting unarmed man
LOS ANGELES CA Aug 21 201– A man is dead, and a security guard is in custody and charged with murder after a shooting in Panorama City.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a shooting outside a 7-Eleven near Arminta Street and Van Nuys Boulevard a little before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Police found a man with gunshots and an armed security guard nearby.
Witnesses said that there was an argument between the homeless man who is seen in the area regularly and often is a day laborer.
The security guard who was armed with pepper spray, and not licensed to carry a firearm, was seen retrieving a gun from his vehicle and then pointing it at the homeless man and firing twice as the man walked away.
The homeless man had his hands up and was trying to leave the area multiple witnesses said.
LAPD spokesperson said that the security guard was arrested for murder because he killed an unarmed man who posed no threat to the security guard and the man was trying to leave the area at the time of being shot.
