Larimore man charged for assaulting Altru nurse and security officer
Grand Forks ND March 22 2019 A Larimore man is facing one felony count of aggravated assault and one misdemeanor of simple assault after an incident at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks earlier this month.
Court documents say 29-year-old Latron Murphy was at Altru for a mental health evaluation on March 9, when he tried to flee the hospital.
Documents say when Murphy was trying to leave the ER, he was stopped by a nurse. Murphy punched the nurse four times in the back, neck and jaw. One of the nurse’s teeth was knocked out, and suffered a broken jaw as well.
An Altru security officer then tried to stop Murphy as well, and court documents say Murphy punched him in the face twice.
After the assaults, Murphy left the ER and was later detained by Altru security arounf the 1300 block of S. Columbia Rd. Documents say officers had to tase Murphy and handcuff him in order to control him.
A warrant is currently out for Murphy’s arrest.
