Las Vegas police arrests 2 suspects in death of security officer
LAS VEGAS NV May 28 2017 The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has arrested two men in connection to the death of a local man last year.
Mark Santee was a security officer working his shift. Police say he was beaten and then shot multiple times at a construction site near Jerry Tarkanian Way on April 27, 2016.
Detectives believed that more than one person was involved in the crime because of what was taken from the scene and the possible vehicle involved.
Prosecutors have charged 20-year-old Julian Lamar Warren and 29-year-old Deandre Lamar Daniels with murder, court records show.
Both already were in Clark County Detention Center on unrelated incidents, and were re-booked on counts of murder, robbery and burglary, and conspiracy to commit murder, robbery and burglary.
According to officers, the victim was a security guard patrolling a construction site near Fort Apache Road and Tropicana Avenue when he encountered the thieves. Police said he confronted the men who were allegedly at the site to steal, and that’s when he was shot and killed.
Raymond Padilla, 43, was the first suspect nabbed by police for Santee’s death. He was arrested in March 2017.
“We’re here for the family. We have not forgotten Mark Santee,” said LVMPD Lt. McGrath.
