Law enforcement across Alabama help man with autism get home to Indiana
Alabama July 7 2021 Police officers and deputies across Alabama came together on July 4 to help a man with autism who had been robbed and stranded in Montgomery get home to Indianapolis.
Willinaus Bolin, 23, was on his way to Florida when he was robbed and pushed out of a car at a Montgomery gas station, according to a Facebook post.
Bolin had no cash or cell phone when officers from the Montgomery Police Department arrived.
According to the Facebook post, officers believed his traveling companions took advantage of Bolin to steal money he had saved mowing lawns.
Officers were unable to get in touch with Bolin’s family. The 23-year-old, who is autistic, then went on a ride across the state, courtesy of law enforcement.
Montgomery police officers brought him to a Waffle House in Vestavia Hills, where officers at the local police department attempted to purchase bus or plane tickets.
They couldn’t find any and drove him to Fultondale instead.
Fultondale police officers drove him to Cullman County, where sheriff’s deputies took him to Morgan County.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office delivered him to Limestone County, which made arrangements to continue Bolin’s journey home.
