Rancho Cucamonga CA Sept 24 2017
A Rancho Cucamonga man who pleaded guilty in April to fatally shooting a convenience store security officer during a robbery in 2014 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, court records show.
Diego Dominguez Jr. 38, had pleaded guilty to murder and robbery in April in West Valley Superior Court in connection with the slaying of Dean Vedol Sena, 45, of Placentia, in February 2014.
A man identified as Dominguez went inside Brothers Liquor at Arrow Route and Hermosa Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga about 11:20 p.m. Feb. 22, 2014, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s reports.
As one of the store clerks complied with the demands, a second employee ran from the minimart and notified Sena, who was working as a security guard in the area.
When Sena entered the store, Dominguez shot him multiple times, officials said. Dominguez then ran off. He was arrested the following day.
