Lincoln Parish teacher faces three felony drug charges
West Monroe LA July 29 2018 A Lincoln Parish teacher faces three felony drug charges after being arrested Thursday.
Casey Tyler Oden, 43, was charged with two counts of the production, manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV narcotic and one count of possession with intent to distribute or manufacture a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance.
According to a warrant for Oden’s arrest, West Monroe Police Street Crimes Unit contacted someone on July 20 who said he could buy 3 to 4 ounces or methamphetamine from Oden.
He described Oden as a white woman who teaches eighth-grade math and drives a white Honda.
He called Oden and arranged for her to bring 3 ounces of meth from Ruston to the Avant Motel in Calhoun. He also talked to her about bringing Alprazolam and Diazepam.
Detectives waited for Oden in the median of Interstate 20 at the parish line. They took a picture of her car, initiated a traffic stop and verified it was Oden.
One deputy found a bra pad insert in her purse. He asked advised Oden of her Miranda rights and asked if she had anything in her bra.
Oden said pulled three bags of suspected methamphetamine from her bra and a small bag containing one suspected Alprazolam and one suspected Diazepam.
The methamphetamine weighed approximately 85.8 grams.
She bonded out Thursday evening, and total bond was $21,500.
Oden is listed on the Ruston Junior High School website as a math and Algebra I teacher
