Little Italy Bar Security Guard Shoots Patron After Fight
San Diego CA April 22 2019 The San Diego Police Department identified the suspect in a fight that resulted in a punch thrown and shots fired on the streets outside El Camino Bar in Little Italy.
SDPD identified Dangelo Jeffrey, 23, as the security guard who fired the shot at the patron early Saturday night.
SDPD said the confrontation between the men began inside the bar located at 2400 India St. just before closing time.
Police said Jeffrey got into an argument with a couple of patrons and allegedly made a verbal threat, saying something would happen to them.
At around 2 a.m., the patron and his friends left the bar.
Investigators said Jeffrey followed the patron down India Street, near West Laurel Street, and, there, the pair got into another argument. At that point, the patron allegedly punched the Jeffrey in the face.
Police said Jeffrey pulled out a handgun and fired two shots at the patron. One bullet hit him once in the lower abdomen.
Jeffrey then left the area and went home. Once he was home, he called authorities and turned himself into the police.
NBC 7 confirmed Jeffrey works for Titanium Security.
The owner of Titanium Security told NBC 7 they do not arm their security guards and was surprised by Jeffrey’s reported actions. He did not confirm the future status of Jeffrey’s employment with the company.
SDPD said the shooting victim was taken to a local hospital; he is expected to recover.
No one else was hurt in the shooting.
Jeffrey posted bail at $50,000 as of Saturday night.
