Livingston College campus officers, police charge man with carrying gun
Salisbury NC Feb 5 2020
One man was arrested this weekend after he was spotted with a gun on the campus of Livingstone College, which sent the campus into lockdown, according to college officials and Salisbury Police.
Salisbury Police charged 19-year-old Stanley Wade Bailey II of the 600 block of West Liberty Street with felony carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor weapon on a campus or educational property and misdemeanor resist, obstruct and delay an officer. The incident occurred sometime around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Bailey was issued a $25,000 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
According to Livingstone spokeswoman Kimberly Harrington they had an incident where three males entered the campus. Salisbury Police were called to assist campus security officers.
“A subject was arrested, and a handgun was found,” Harrington said.
Harrington confirmed Bailey is not a student and the three males were not invited on campus. The college did go on lockdown afterward as a safety precaution, she said.
Salisbury Police Capt. Brian Stallings confirmed police were called in reference to someone with a weapon.
Stallings said the resisting charge came about because when the officer tried to pat Bailey down he had his hands in his pocket and pulled his arm away.
