Long Beach CA May 27 2019
A security officer unintentionally discharged his or her gun while helping search a building at Lafayette Elementary School Saturday.
No one was injured, Long Beach police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.
She said security officers were searching a building at the school after an alarm went off.
The incident happened at about 11:45 p.m. during a training session involving school district security personnel, said Long Beach Unified School District spokesman Chris Eftychiou.
Lafayette Elementary is at 2445 Chestnut Ave. in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood.
Security officers are employed by the school district. Dandoy said police were called in at around midnight to investigate the accidental shooting.
