Man accidentally shoots himself in leg while inside Las Vegas casino
Las Vegas NV Feb 24 2023 A man appeared to have accidentally shot himself in the leg while walking through a Las Vegas Strip casino this week, according to an arrest report.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police wrote that they were called to The Cosmopolitan on the morning of Feb. 21 on a report of a man who was shot on the casino floor.
Officers found Ronnie Delouth, 30, receiving treatment from security for a gunshot wound to his left thigh. He was rushed to surgery at UMC and was last said to be in critical condition.
Police reviewed surveillance video and saw Delouth walking alone on the casino floor when he jerked suddenly and fell to the ground, according to the report.
“Delouth rolls around on the ground, reaches down the front of his waistband, removes a black handgun, throws the handgun under a slot machine and crawls away,” the report states.
A detective responded to the casino and found the gun under one of the slot machines. It was described as a “ghost gun” with no serial number with one spent casing still in the chamber. Police noted that Delouth had three prior convictions in Nevada, which meant he was legally prohibited from owning a gun.
Delouth was booked in absentia on suspicion of possession of a gun by a prohibited person and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
A court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 28, though the court website indicates he was still hospitalized as of Wednesday.
