Man accused of shooting security guard at Cleveland bar
CLEVELAND, Ohio September 20 2019 – A Cleveland man is accused of shooting a security guard in the leg at a bar in the city’s Goodrich-Kirtland Park neighborhood.
Albert J. Glenn Flowers, 37, is charged with felonious assault in the Sept. 8 shooting outside Little Kings Lounge on Payne Avenue at East 30th Street, according to court records. He is not in custody, but a warrant was issued Sunday for his arrest.
Flowers got into an argument the with 39-year-old security guard about 2:30 a.m. as the staff closed the bar. He pulled out a gun and shot the bouncer in the left leg, according to court records.
Surveillance video from the bar showed the security guard trying to clear out the bar at closing time. Flowers was playing pool at the time. The guard took away the pool balls, and Flowers shoved him, the surveillance video showed. The guard threw a punch and Flowers, and Flowers pulled out a gun, police reports say.
Flowers shot at the guard, who ran into a back room, police reports say. Flowers followed the guard, but emerged moments later and walked out of the bar.
The guard drove himself to MetroHealth for treatment. A doctor told Cleveland police officers he suffered a minor injury that was not considered life-threatening, police reports say.
The guard told investigators he knew Flowers before the shooting, and that Flowers appeared to be drunk when the shooting occurred, police reports say.
