Man accused of stealing more than $6K worth of computers from Costco
SAN ANTONIO TX May 18 2022Â – A man has been accused of stealing more than $6,000 worth of electronics from Costco.
David Earl Thomas, 34, was arrested after police say he stole five Dell laptop computers totaling $6,149.95 from a Costco in Selma, Texas. Police say he entered the store on April 7 and grabbed a shopping cart, loaded it with the four computers, then pushed the cart out of a fire exit on the south side of the building.
Thomas was seen driving away in a silver SUV. According to arrest paperwork, several employees witnessed the theft.
A loss prevention officer with Costco gave police documentation showing that Thomas has been responsible for approximately 30 thefts from Costco since July of 2021 and used the same method each time. Costco has numerous images and reports documenting the pattern of thefts and shared them with their stores in order to prevent future thefts from occurring.
Thomas is charged with theft of $2,500 to $30,000, which is a felony.
