Man arrested after accidentally shooting himself at KY mall
PADUCAH, KY Feb 9 2018
A man who accidentally shot himself inside a vehicle parked at a Kentucky mall had more than injury to his leg once police arrived.
According to police, mall security at Kentucky Oaks Mall notified police of the shooting and said that it was not an active shooter situation.
When police and emergency medical services arrived, they found Brent W. Dixon, 35, of Paducah, with a gunshot.
When officers conducted a computer check, it revealed outstanding warrants for his arrest.
They also found that he was a convicted felon and could not have firearms.
That’s according to the sheriff’s office.
Dixon was arrested on a charge of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon as well as outstanding warrants.
Dixon told investigators he had grabbed the gun from another person and shot himself.
The other person took the gun and left.
Dixon was taken to the McCracken County Jail after being released from the hospital.
