Man arrested after barricading himself inside a women’s bathroom at South West Med. Center
OKLAHOMA CITYÂ Â OK Sept 15 2019Â South West Medical Center was placed on lockdown Wednesday evening after a man threatened to take hostages and barricaded himself in a women’s bathroom police said.
Officers received a call referencing suspicious activity where a caller stated: “I’m going to walk in someplace and take hostages, possibly a child.”
When police arrived in the area they saw Donald Ashcraft, 51, holding a knife in his hand.
Ashcraft ran inside the medical center once he saw police.
Police said they made South West Medical Center Security Officers aware of the situation and placed the hospital on lockdown.
Ashcraft was founded locked in the third floor women’s restroom with his knife and a fire extinguisher.
Police said they tried to get Ashcraft to open the door several times but he refused saying he wanted to speak with the FBI and a guy who works for news 5.
Security Officers were able to provide police with the key to the bathroom to get Ashcraft out.
Once Ashcraft was removed from the bathroom, he was taken to the ER and placed under arrest for threatening act of violence and for a previous Oklahoma County warrant.
