Man arrested after deputy sees him shoot, kill man at Carson strip mall
Carson CA Nov 2 2021 A 55-year-old man was shot and killed in front of a strip mall in Carson Friday afternoon, Oct. 29, and the suspected shooter was found inside one of the businesses and arrested, authorities said.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Carson and South Figueroa streets about 4:40 p.m. when he heard shouting coming from the northeast corner, Deputy Miguel Meza said.
The deputy looked over and saw a man pointing a handgun somewhere in the vicinity of the strip mall, Meza said. The man then fired six to seven shots, then ran north into the strip mall area.
Deputies contained the area and found the victim on the sidewalk in front of one of the businesses, Meza said. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
A second man, who had also been shot at, was found inside the retail center unharmed, Meza said.
