Man arrested after reportedly hitting officer, security guard with truck
ODESSA TX June 20 2017 — A man in Odessa was arrested after police say he hit an officer and a security guard with a truck.
Aaron Palma, 26, has been charged and arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Aggravated Assault on a Security Officer, and Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle.
Just after midnight Sunday officers with the Odessa Police Department responded to Whataburger on 42nd Street to help a security guard with an intoxicated subject, according to OPD.
When police arrived on scene they found a man passed out behind the wheel of a Dodge Ram. The man was identified as Palma.
An officer began knocking on Palma’s window and asked him to step out of the truck, which Palma refused according to OPD.
Palma then put his truck into drive and hit the officer, causing her to roll off and hit the wall of Whataburger, police say. The security guard was also hit in the arm by the truck as Palma drove away.
Police were able to eventually stop Palma near Market Street where he was charged and arrested.
