DAYTONA BEACH FL Feb 28 2018 — A Bethune-Cookman University student was arrested late Sunday night after police say a loaded AR-15 was found in his car, which was parked on campus.
A security guard found Ronald Jacques Jr., 20, was illegally parked on campus, according to WESH in Orlando.
When he looked more closely at the vehicle, the guard saw the AR-15 sitting on the passenger seat in plain view, WESH reported.
After Jacques Jr. admitted he had knowingly brought the weapon to campus, against school policy, he was booked in Volusia County jail with bail set at $10,000 according to WESH.
Bethune-Cookman University released the following statement:
“The student involved in this incident has been suspended and removed from campus pending a disciplinary hearing. The hearing, which will take place in two weeks, will determine his future with Bethune-Cookman University. B-CU adheres to a strict, no guns policy on campus. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our No. 1 priority at B-CU.”
