Man arrested after stealing from Safeway, fighting security

A 37-year-old man was arrested after fighting with a security guard as he tried to flee with merchandise stolen from a Safeway store in Millbrae on Sunday evening, San Mateo County sheriff’s officials said.
Dylan Slusser was arrested after deputies from the Sheriff’s Office’s Millbrae Police Bureau responded at 6:08 p.m. to a report of a shoplifting incident at the grocery store at 525 El Camino Real.
Security guards and a few bystanders had Slusser detained down the street from the store, and investigators learned he had taken items from there and pushed the security guard multiple times in an attempt to get away, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The security guard did not suffer any injuries in the altercation, and Slusser was booked into county jail on suspicion of robbery.
