Chino police jailed a 23-year-old North Hollywood man last Saturday night on suspicion of trying to grab the holstered handgun from a security guard at Frosty’s Pumpkin Patch in Chino.
Nicholas Elkins was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on charges of attempted assault with a deadly weapon and battery, according to Chino Police Sgt. Frank Acuna.
Mr. Elkins was released on bail at 6:32 p.m. Sunday, San Bernardino County jail records show.
A court date is pending.
Chino police officers were called to Frosty’s, located at 14861 Ramona Ave, at Chino Hills Parkway, at 10:36 p.m. on a report of a man trying to grab the security guard’s handgun, which was in a holster, Sgt. Acuna said.
“The investigation shows the suspect was asked to leave the property and a physical altercation ensued,” Sgt. Acuna said.
The unidentified security guard had the suspect detained by the time officers arrived, the sergeant said.
No injuries were reported.
