Man arrested in security incident at Iowa hospital
MASON CITY, Iowa March 16 2018– An arrest is made in an incident that led to increased security at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa for two days, but those living near the hospital say they had no idea what was going on.
Police were called to the hospital around 9:46 pm Tuesday on a report of a disorderly male. Hospital officials said the man threatened Mercy staff. Mason City police could not locate immediately locate the man and officers worked with Mercy – North Iowa overnight and through Wednesday to ensure the safety of staff and patients something that is giving Rozen some piece of mind.
“I have a lot of faith in the Mason City Police Department,” she said. “If they felt like we needed to know more information they would let us know. I just trust that they know what they’re doing and will takecare of us.”
The Mason City Police Department identified the man as 49-year-old Alonzo Hill of Steamboat Rock. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Hill and picked up around 2:30 pm Wednesday by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
Hill is facing a charge of 1st degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
