Man arrested in shoplifting incident found to be wanted for Cleveland murder
Wickliffe, Ohio Jan 21 2022 A man who accompanied a woman found to be shoplifting from a Wickliffe business was wanted by Cleveland Police for murder.
At approximately 8 p.m. on Monday evening, Wickliffe officers were dispatched to a Dollar General location for a complaint of a female shoplifting with an accompanying male.
When the officers arrived to the scene, both of the suspects were seen walking through the Dollar General parking lot. As they were approached by officers, the male fled the scene on foot. The woman was apprehended without incident.
Officers began searching for the male, who was spotted by officers running behind Wickliffe Middle School, across a football field toward Silver Street.
The search continued in the back yards of residents in the area he was seen fleeing into. An officer located the man hiding between a fence he jumped and a garage in the 1700 block of Silver Street.
The man was taken into custody without incident according to Wickliffe Police.
While checking the man’s record, an active warrant for his arrest for a Cleveland murder was found.
The 19-year-old man was identified as Klynn Hafley of Cleveland. He has been turned over to the Cleveland Division of Police by the Wickliffe Police Department.
