Man charged with attempted murder of Colorado Springs security officer
Colorado Springs CO. May 9 2017 A man is facing attempted murder charges after getting kicked out of a movie theater in Colorado Springs and then trying run down a security officer.
According to police, Tomasz Sobolewski, 37, was told to leave Regal Interquest Stadium Saturday night.
A security officer followed him to get information about his vehicle and his tag number in case he returned and it almost cost the security officer his life.
Police said Sobolewski threatened to run the security officer over if he continued to follow him. The suspect then allegedly got into his vehicle, put it in reverse and drove directly at the security guard and hit him.
After getting hit, the security officer retreated and hid behind other vehicles but Sobolewski allegedly kept trying to injure the security guard and smashed into a parked vehicle in an attempt to strike the security officer again.
Sobolewski was eventually detained after other security officers came to the scene and police arrived.
Sobolewski is being held at the El Paso County jail on a $50,000 bond
He is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Police did not say why Sobolewski was asked to leave the theater.
