Man charged with drug felonies at Carson City casino
Carson City NV Feb 18 2019
A 42 year-old Dayton man was arrested early Friday morning at 1:37 a.m. in the 2200 block of E. William Street for a pair of felony offenses, a Carson City Sheriff’s deputy reported, including methamphetamine trafficking and drug possession for sales.
Charles Rodriguez was taken into custody after Sheriff’s deputies arrived on report of a subject dropping possible narcotics at an area gaming business.
The property security officer made contact with the arriving deputy, handing over a baggie containing a substance recognized as meth, the report said.
Security also pointed out the subject that was observed dropping the baggie and positively identified him.
Surveillance footage, security said, clearly shows the individual dropping the baggie.
The deputy then made contact with the suspect and showed him recovered baggie. The suspect at first denied the baggie was his, the report said, but then appeared embarrassed and requested to talk with the deputy outside.
Once outside, the suspect said, “Ok, you caught me,” while dropping his head.
Upon identifying himself to the deputy, the suspect said he wanted to speak with a lawyer before saying anything else, the report said.
The deputy returned inside the business and viewed the surveillance footage, which showed the baggie falling from the suspect’s possession onto the floor and remained there until security retrieved it, the report said.
The suspect was subsequently placed in handcuffs. Two hypodermic needles were located inside a jacket pocket during the weapons search.
While being transported, the suspect told the deputy that he needed to remove something from inside his underwear before being booked, the report said.
At the jail, the suspect removed two additional baggies of meth from the front of his underwear. Total gross weight of the three baggies of meth was 7.1 grams, the report said.
Due to the amount the suspect had in his possession, he was charged with felony trafficking and booked without incident.
The suspect had left behind his vehicle in the business parking lot and that was attended to by a K9 unit, which was alerted to drug odor on exterior sniff. A search warrant was subsequently issued for the vehicle’s interior.
Bail: $20,137.
