Man charged with felony after alleged unprovoked assault of security officer
Olympia WA April 24 2022 A Seattle man was charged with a felony after allegedly suddenly punching an Intercity Transit bus station security officer.
Chamnan Sok, 37, was charged with one count of third-degree assault by the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney on April 12.
Olympia police arrested Sok on April 9 after a reported assault in the 200 block of State Avenue.
A security officer told police that he was making his rounds when a man, later identified as Sok, punched him in the face with a closed fist.
Police did not observe any obvious signs of injury on the security officer but described him as “visibly shaken.”
An officer obtained a photo of the suspect from surveillance footage of the incident.
Police later located Sok walking along Franklin Street. He denied being at the bus station and being involved in an assault.
The police reported that “Chamnan had changed his jacket; however, he was still wearing the same pants, shoes, and backpack.” Officers said the man in the picture “was clearly him” and the security officer also positively identified Sok as the person who assaulted him.
Sok was booked into the Thurston County Jail for third-degree assault.
