Man charged with murder of KS security guard
EUDORA, Kan. June 27 2017
A Douglas County man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a Eudora, Kan. bar security guard.
Danny W. Queen, 36, has been charged with one count of Murder in the First Degree and two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree in connection with the death of Bo Matthew Hopson, 32.
Eudora Police were originally called to investigate a shooting at D-Dubs Bar at 10 W. 9th Street around 1 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they found Hopson suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital where he died Sunday.
Police said Hopson was working at the bar as a security guard at the time of the incident.
Queen had been in the bar, and had been asked to leave. He was not removed by Hopson, however Hopson went outside to make sure Queen was leaving.
Police said there was some sort of altercation outside of the bar involving Queen and others after Queen was asked to leave.
Queen was carrying a pistol in his pocket and had had quite a bit to drink that night according to witnesses.
Queen reportedly shot Hopson once in the chest and once in the right arm before his gun jammed. Police said Queen did point his gun at other people, but he was unable to fire any additional shots.
Bar employees disarmed Queen and detained him until police could arrive.
Bond in this case has been set at $1 Million.
