Man charged with pulling gun on Oklahoma City hospital security officer
Oklahoma City OK Jan 26 2019
A man was taken into custody at OU Medical Center Wednesday night after police reported he pointed a handgun at a security guard at another hospital.
Lt. Dennis Layden said the man, whose name was not released, was being treated at OU Medical Center when staff determined he needed a mental health evaluation. He was taken by University of Oklahoma police to St. Anthony Hospital about 6:30 p.m.
While in the hospital, police said the man became upset and made threats to hospital staff and other people in the hospital before walking out.
A security guard at the hospital reported encountering the man, who reportedly pulled out a small handgun and pointed it at the guard.
The hospital was on lockdown for a short period of time.
No shots were fired and the man walked away to NW 9 and Walker Avenue, where Emergency Medical Services Authority paramedics responded and took him back to OU Medical Center, Layden said.
Police were able to locate the man at the hospital and took him into custody. No weapon had been found as of 7:30 p.m.
