Man dead after shooting an armored car guard in Milwaukee

A man shot an armored car guard during an attempted robbery outside a bank on the city’s southwest side, resulting in a security officer firing his weapon, striking the man, and killing him, Milwaukee police say.
The incident took place Friday shortly before 5 p.m. near the North Shore Bank, located at 5817 W. Forest Home Ave., police said.
The armed robbery suspect, 47, whose name has not been released, died from the gunshots police said.
The security officer who was shot is 36 years old and from Kewaskum. He is currently in a hospital and expected to survive, police said.
The security officer who shot the robbery suspect has not been identified but his age is said to be 25.
Police said the incident will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days but that the shooting appears to be self-defense.
