Man dies more than a year after bar fight with security guard
Chicago IL December 1 2018 A 40-year-old Hermosa man has died more than a year after he was in a bar fight with a security guard at an establishment on the Northwest Side, authorities said.
Marco Antonio Solorio Raya, of the 1900 block of North Kildare Avenue, was pronounced dead around 1 p.m. Wednesday at Illinois Masonic Medical Center more than 18 months after he was in the fight around 2:30 a.m. on May 7, 2017, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide due to complications from of blunt force trauma injuries to the head and remote assault.
Raya tried to enter a bar in the 1600 block of North Cicero Avenue in the North Austin neighborhood, but a 33-year-old security guard denied him entry because he was intoxicated, Chicago police said.
Police said Raya got upset and punched the security guard. The security guard then punched Raya in the face, causing a bloody nose, according to police.
At the time, Raya was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the security guard declined to press charges.
