Man disarms Hamilton County courthouse security officer during disturbance
Hamilton County TN May 5 2020 Hamilton County deputies arrested a man after they say he assaulted a deputy and security officer at the courthouse on Monday afternoon.
HCSO spokesperson Rachel Frizzell says 39-year-old Donald Scott Trivett created “a disturbance” at the Hamilton County Courthouse and was asked by a deputy to leave.
Frizzell says Trivett refused to leave and then assaulted the deputy and a Walden’s Security officer.
During the assault, Frizzell says Trivett took the security officer’s work pistol from his holster, but the weapon was taken from Trivett with the help of a court bailiff.
Trivett was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Weapon During a Judicial Proceeding, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
The deputy and security officer’s injuries were minor. Their names have not been released.
