Man Drove Through Airport Fence, Got on Empty Plane
LINTHICUM, Md. May 30 2017 A man drove through a perimeter fence at BWI Airport and police say he got onto an unoccupied airplane before authorities detained him.
Media outlets report the car got into a secure area at Signature Flight Support at Baltimore Washington International Airport Thurgood Marshall Airport on Saturday.
The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/2s7XcEg ) that Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman Lt. Kevin Ayd confirmed Monday that the 42-year-old Laurel man entered the smaller model aircraft at Pier D near the terminal and left a bag on board, then left and re-entered the aircraft before police arrived.
Ayd says the aircraft and the backpack were checked and there was nothing “alarming.” The man hasn’t been charged and is undergoing a medical evaluation.
The FBI has ruled out terrorism in this incident.
