Man fatally shot by park rangers at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
Monterey County CA June 24 2019 A man firing a gun was fatally shot by California State Park Rangers Saturday evening.
According to a statement from California State Parks:
“Earlier today State Park Rangers responded to reports of gun shots at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.
A male possibly in his mid-20s yelled out and started shooting with a 10-millimeter Glock around the area.
It was unclear who he was shooting at.
No one was hurt by the suspect’s gunfire.
Rangers shot the suspect and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His identity is not available at this time.
California State Parks is working closely with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol and the District Attorney’s Office.
This is all of the information that we can provide at this time.”
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said the district attorney’s office is taking over the investigation.
