Man in custody after standoff at TN hospital
Greeneville, TN Feb 10 2019 UPDATE:
Greeneville Police have taken David Justin Lee Story into custody after he took himself hostage at knifepoint in the emergency department of a Laughlin Hospital restroom.
Police said Story refused to comply after requests to put the knife down and surrender.
We’re told during the situation, the ER had to divert patients to a different entrance, the waiting room was closed, and the hospital had to divert EMS transports.
Story took the knife and broke a sprinkler head, causing the fire alarm to go off and water to flood the bathroom, police said.
He was taken into custody by force, where he sustained minor injuries.
Story is charged with Felony Vandalism and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken to the Greene County Detention Center and is under $45,000 bond.
