Man pulls gun on Colorado Springs officers after attempted shoplifting
Colorado Springs CO January 2 2020 A man was arrested Friday night after Colorado Springs police say he revealed a gun to officers while attempting to shoplift with two others.
Police said about 6 p.m., three shoplifters tried to heist goods from a business in the 1500 block of Space Center Drive — a shopping complex off Powers Boulevard that includes a Walmart. When police went to arrest the trio, 33-year-old Reese Sorensen darted off and pulled out a gun, police said.
Police tackled Sorensen before he was able to use the weapon. Officers said he suffered injuries from the confrontation.
Sorensen was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and contraband last month, court records show. Another suspect, 18-year-old Connor Knots-Emeigh was cited and released with a misdemeanor shoplifting charge, police said. The third suspect’s name was not released because she is a juvenile.
Sorensen is being held in the El Paso County jail in lieu of a $4,000 bail, jail records show.
