Metro Police say a drunk man with drugs pulled a gun on a bus station security guard then spit in the face of a cop before kicking and grabbing the groin of the officer.
According to court documents, police were called to the Greyhound station on 5th Avenue South on Monday at 1 a.m. When they arrive, the security guard said Hicks pulled a gun out and threatened him and pointed the officers in the direction in which he fled.
He was found not long later on the corner of 2nd Avenue South and Lafayette Street with not just the gun, but also a large assortment of drugs. Police found prescription pills of all types, four hypodermic needles and crystal meth.
After the suspect was placed in the back of the police car, officers say Hicks became belligerent. He started kicking the windows of the car, and when one of the officers opened the door to better restrain the man, he kicked the door again, causing it to hit the officer in the head. Another officer began to enter the car, and Hicks allegedly spit in his face and mouth.
The officers drove him back to the original scene. But when they tried to secure him better in the car, Hicks began fighting officers again. Police say he grabbed the groin of the officer he kicked and then spit on his face as well.
He later admitted he had been drinking alcohol and was drunk.
He was eventually restrained and booked in the Davidson County jail on a slew of charges. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, three counts of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, five counts of possession without a subscription, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth and vandalism.
