Man Reportedly Armed with Gun in Custody Following San Diego Trolley SWAT Standoff
San Diego CA April 3 2021-Police officers took a man into custody Tuesday night at an East Village transit station following a SWAT standoff provoked by reports he was armed with a gun, police said.
Details of how the incident began and ended were not immediately clear, but all other passengers were evacuated from the trolley during the standoff, according to San Diego police Sgt. Kevin Gibson.
Police were called out about 8:10 p.m. to the 12th & Imperial Transit Center just southeast of Petco Park, on Imperial Avenue between 13th Street and 11th Avenue, Gibson said.
Police took the man into custody just before 9:20 p.m., Officer John Buttle said.
No injuries were immediately reported, and Buttle said the man was being taken to receive mental health services.
