Chicago IL June 12 2019
A man shot during a confrontation with a security guard nearly two months ago in East Garfield Park died on Monday.
Antonio Henderson, 25, was approaching a residence at 12:35 p.m. April 16 in the 3300 block of West Madison Street when he was confronted by the guard, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police said Henderson pulled out a gun during the confrontation and the guard shot him.
Henderson, who lived in Wrightwood on the Southwest Side, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:38 a.m. on Monday, authorities said. Police had initially reported that he died in the hours after he was shot.
An autopsy found Henderson died from complications of a gunshot wound to the neck and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Police said responding officers recovered both guns at the scene and the guard, a 53-year-old man, was not questioned in the shooting. No charges have been filed.
