Man shot several times at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino
LEMOORE, California December 3 2018– A man was shot multiple times at a Kings County casino late Friday night, deputies say.
Just before midnight, a fight broke out between several people, including 21-year-old Jose Francisco Leon and Alfonso Gonzalez at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, says a Kings County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The casino is about six miles from downtown Lemoore.
Casino security officers tried to break up the fight, but deputies say the men fought them off.
Francisco Leon and Gonzalez ran from the casino and continued fighting, deputies say, and when they reached the valet area, Fransico Leon pulled out a gun from his waistband and shot Gonzalez several times.
He then fled on foot, deputies say.
Using casino surveillance footage, employees were able to watch Francisco Leon make a phone call and then get picked up by his sister, Matilde Leon Perez, in the area of Yokut Gas on 17th Avenue.
Casino security officers followed the suspect vehicle and were able to provide location updates to Kings County deputies.
And that’s when deputies located Francisco Leon and his sister at 14th and Kent avenues.
The gun was not found in the car, but a deputy and his K-9 partner found it near where the traffic stop took place.
Francisco Leon was booked into Kings County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as attempted murder.
His sister was interviewed and released pending further investigation.
The shooting victim, Gonzalez, was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
His medical status is unknown.
