Man targeted in vicious stabbing inside Westfield Wheaton Mall
WHEATON, Md. December 12 2018 Montgomery County police say a man was targeted in a violent stabbing at Westfield Wheaton Mall, and it was not a random crime.
Not much is known about the victim in this case, but ABC7 News reported that he was stabbed at around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday while the Wheaton Mall was packed with holiday shoppers.
ABC7 News has learned the stabbing occurred inside the Last Stop store on the lower level. Montgomery County Police say the victim made his way to a nearby area inside the mall close to the DSW Shoe store, where he was found and then taken to the hospital.
He underwent surgery for serious injuries but is expected to survive.
This latest incident continues a concerning trend at Westfield Wheaton Mall. Just a few weeks ago on the day before Thanksgiving, a man was shot inside of a car in the parking lot. And about a year ago two men were fatally stabbed inside the mall.
Investigators are currently searching for the suspect, however, they do not have a good description to go on right now. Detectives are going through surveillance video for the mall to try to help them catch this person.
